After a growth of 6% 4,8 million housholds buy fairtrade groceries. The research was done by GfK under assignment of Max Havelaar association, Fair Trade Original and the national association of “Wereldwinkels”. Coffee (21%) and chocolate (7%) are causing the growth. Especially young adults below the age of 30 and the group of people in age range 40-49 years of age are buying. The age goroup 65+ has been stable for years despite that this group is growing in numbers. Almost all supermarkets sell fairtrade products.
