Dutch Cabinet wants to protect franchise entrepreneurs better

The Dutch government wants to protect franchise entrepreneurs better adding Franchise agreements to the Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek). A legislative proposal has been sent to the Council of State. According to the cabinet, agreed agreements and expectations are not always complied with to the detriment of the franchisees.
Secretary of State Mona Keijzer of economic affairs hopes to be able to send the bill to the second chamber before the end of this year. Only then will the proposal be public.
The bill focuses on the exchange of information, the interim modification of the franchise agreement, the termination of cooperation and consultation between the franchiser and the franchisees.
Minister Sander Dekker for legal protection: “If franchisees and franchises know where they are, they can respond more quickly to changes. This stimulates business. And that is not only in their own favor, which is good for the entire Dutch economy. ”
