Dutch people are increasingly buying from European webshops

Dutch people are buying more and more stuff at webshops from other European countries. This is evidenced by figures from the Central Statistical Office (CBS).

According to the CBS, purchases from European merchants have risen by more than 150 percent over the past five years.

In January, February and March of this year the Dutch spend about 390 million euros. That is 15 percent more than in the same months in 2018.

Dutch Webshops sold almost 17 percent more in the first quarter than in the same period a year earlier.

The online spending is disproportionate compaired to the offline spendings. “In 2018, it was less than 2 percent of the total Dutch retail turnover,” says CBS.
