Most expensive drinks and strongest price increase on Amsterdam’s terrace

For the fifth year in a row, Amsterdam has the highest prices on drinks at terraces. In addition, the prices of drinks increased by 7.8 percent, while nationwide average prices rose by 3.1 percent, Horeca consultancy Van Spronsen reports & Partners in the yearly recurring terrace research.

The prices rose in the capital to 27.05 euros for two coffees, two sodas, two beers and two rosé, which is 16 percent higher than the national average.

The Hague is the next most expensive with a price of 24.98 euro for a round. In Haarlem you have to count 24.50 euros for the same drinks and in Den Bosch 24.48 euro.

In Zwolle, this year again the cheapest city, you pay for a round of 21.88 euros. The national average is 23.35 euro.

In Zwolle and Dordrecht a glass of rosé with about 3.69 Euro is the cheapest.

‘ Tax rate increase affects ‘
Last year, prices in Amsterdam increased by 3.5 percent. The rate of increase has therefore fallen considerably higher this year.

According to the consultancy firm, the national price increase of 3.1% was partly influenced by the increase in the low VAT rate at the beginning of this year. This seems to be a big increase, but the agency points out that the average price increase in supermarkets is 3.8%.
